Canon PowerShot SX130 IS comes with superzoom This one replaces the SX120 IS. It sees a resolution increase to 12MP, a longer 12x zoom range starting at 28mm, gains SDXC support and offers HD movie recording and additional scene modes including a Miniature mode. Now you can faking miniatures the Canon way. The rest of the features remain the same including a 3.0" LCD, P/A/S/M shooting, image stabilization and AA battery power. Capture the moment in HD The PowerShot SX130 IS supports 720p HD video with stereo sound, allowing me to immediately switch from photos to high-quality video and back again with one convenient, compact camera. The best: Easy to use for all the family My wife or kids can achieve great results thanks to a range of intelligent shooting features and creative modes. With Easy Mode, the camera becomes the perfect point-and-shoot, with most buttons disabled and icons removed from the screen to make it easier to compose and capture the best possible shot, without worrying about settings. Smart Auto with Scene Detection Technology identifies up to 28 different shooting conditions, automatically adjusting the settings to produce the best possible result, which is fantastic. Smart Flash Exposure controls flash levels according to shooting conditions, providing the right amount of flash to ensure perfectly exposed shots in all situations, from dimly lit rooms to bright sunlight. You can also use Slow Sync Flash (that tells your camera to shoot with both a longer shutter speed as well as firing the flash). Also you have full manual control allowing to individually control shutter speed and aperture to shoot with their chosen settings and create my own effects. As well as providing help in capturing great images as seen through the lens, the PowerShot SX130 IS also features a range of creative modes to add a new dimension to photos without requiring additional post-production. Miniature Effect is available in both movie and still image capture, mimicking the effects of a tilt-shift lens to give subjects a model-like profile. Fish-eye Effect replicates the distortion of a fish-eye lens, adding a new angle to portrait and landscape shots. Super Vivid boosts colour saturation, while Poster Effect creates a more retro feel to images, allowing users to make their photos really stand out from the crowd. I buy this product because I need a low price camera with good quality and functions. I just receive this camera 1 day ago, its ease to use, this thing is amazing, the picture quality its so clear, I use it to take photos to various kind of things, even take photo to the moon it looks clear, I`ll never can do that with any other camera, the features are great, all configurations to shot photos can be changed to compose the scene as we like. I take photos to my pets indoors and outdoors, very well quality in low light with the correct settings. The only bad thing I found was the battery life, drain my rechargeables batteries too quick. I guess I got to buy a better ones. That will fix the problem. My advise, buy it, dont will be dissapointed.
I use this camera shooting real estate photos for valuation from my car seat. The zoom will bring the address off the side of the house right into your seat!! It's super easy to use, HD, and 720 DPI is better than average for my job. I use rechargeable batteries with it with no problems. I have used the video in areas where it isn't really safe to stop for long, and edited stills in the office. No problems. I shoot left handed while driving, and for that reason wish it had a "beefier" lanyard. That's my only complaint. This is another great product from Canon!
Its a great camera, that in a pinch, can fit in a coat or pants pocket (220 g - would be like two mobile phones stuck together), but definitely not in a business shirt pocket. Its auto function is awesome, moving flawlessly from different light types, picture composition (people to landscape, to macro-close-up etc)without a hitch. But you can use manual or semi-manual for specific effects. The downside is the 12x zo0m. Don't think it will be like looking though a 12x telescope. No, like all these non-SLRs, the normal view through the lens puts things miles away. The 12x zoom brings it up to marginally better than normal view. For example, you cannot read a distant sign any easier in the viewer with the 12x zoom on full, where as you can with an SLR. So no good for a close up of a distant wildlife (though at 12 MegP, you could blow it it up and crop it on the computer) but perfect for inconspicuously taking close-ups at social functions. The pictures are great, I think perhaps sometimes with a touch too much magenta. And you need never run out of charge like with in-built Li batteries. It takes 2xAAs and we just carry spare rechargeables. For, heavy use we may need one or two spare changes a day. The price from the US was brilliant, more than 33% off the best Aus price, 25% when you include US postage compared to local. Though it Was GST-free (10%), that doesn't account for the other ~20%. If it had only been 10% cheaper, I would have bought it locally.Read full review
I purchased this to use as an 'everyday' camera until I can get a digital SLR. I am an artist and I use the camera to take snapshots of work in progress and for social media images as well as pictures of things in general for use in my work. It is a great camera so far, with lot's of useful features and both auto and manual settings. If I had to replace it before I can buy an SLR, I probably would buy the same brand and model new. This was used and so far is working great and the price was a good value.
