Putting the unit on the hot shoe is easy enough. Reading the gps data on the image is good. But trying to get the gps information out of the camera/gps unit is very difficult and counter-intuitive. Once I figured it out, the process is easy enough to replicate. But the process makes no sense. Also, the gps will tell you where you are it is not very precise. In playing with it in my family room the map information showed me up to two blocks away. Overall, it will be useful for me to have. But Canon made things very difficult for its customers when it discontinued its own mapping program.

This is the only option for several top of the line Canon cameras for using GPS to tag images. The device is well made, easy to set up and use. Overall it is a good deal.
