Nearly fifty years ago when I was a student at New York University at Washington Square living in the dormitory at 5 University Place, One Fifth Avenue was my favorite building. I saw it from all views: east, west, north, south, from ahigh, low, night and day, rain or shine, but always from the outside never from within. I was always intrigued by the building during my travels to New York over the years. Recently as a retired person, I goggled, "One Fifth Avenue" and spent a good afternoon so involved. Among the sites were comments about Candace Bushnell's (about whom I had never heard) book. Anticipating a long overseas flight, I bought the book. I would especially add my compliments to the eBay seller, “ggiezgg” for the excellent customer service provided! I am now at my destination and feel I would have enjoyed being on the inside of One Fifth Avenue and certainly living the life or at least knowing most of the neighbors. My life would have been more interesting had I been in Candace's world view there. I should note that my Google journey took me to some floor plan sites. If I had not had the pre-read admiration for the building and gotten immersed in the historical and architectural Google sites, I am not sure how I might have reacted during the long flight. But in any event upon landing, I was ready and am eager to return to New York one day and ask the doorman if I could look inside. If I am lucky, he might even sign my copy.Read full review
I'm a big fan of Bushnell's work, and the Sex and the City Movie & series. I could see One Fifth as a movie in the future. It's very captivating and fun to read.
She's done it again and still comes out on top!! It grips you from the first page and won't let go!!
