This trims pretty well; however, there is no microadjustment, and although one can get it set at a precise trim length, it takes a bit of effort to fine-tune it. I think Hornady could take it back to the drawing board and design a microadjustment stem and get it close to an L.E. Wilson trimmer, which I do prefer, but they do not make a case holder for the round with which I am presently working (the FN 5.7x28). While I do recommend this tool, I do it with caution. One MUST have the Hornady case holders, and with the FN 5.7, one needs two different case holders, to wit: the #37 T and the #37, which are similar, but this round requires special milling to hold the case and to trim the case. Be cautioned: this trimmer works well, but getting the exact size to trim will take a bit of trial and error. Read full review

I'm happy with the overall tool it's self but there is no micro adjustment. I'm guessing they thought the knurled adjuster stayed in place but it doesn't. I found if you have a shell that you make your template (one that is the exact length) it works just fine. You can push the crank handle end all the way to the stop and mount your shell in the holder, push that till it meets the milling head and lock it in. Oh, one last thing...you have to purchase the shell holders for the calibers you'll be trimming. Those shell holders should be Hornaday as the others don't have a big enough hole. You can go to Hornaday's site and get the list of pilots and shell holders along with the corresponding part numbers. You get a few of the basic sized pilots but no shell holders, so you will need to get those to even see how it works.Read full review

The Hornandy case trimmer is easy and fast to use. Once it is set up, it quickly trims cases without a need for constant adjustment. The COAL adjustment stops are micro adjustable and do not move once they are set. The Cam Lock case holder securely holds cases and is quick and easy to lock and unlock. Needs appropriate Hornady shell holder for the caliber you are trimming.

This was my first case trimmer. I took my time getting it adjusted and mounted. I am doing 300 Blackout from 223 and this works well. It takes a little time but speed is not my goal. I was able to get good accurate case length and it works to my satisfaction. Be sure to lubricate the spindle and other moving parts for smooth operation. A drop of oil on the pilot or case lube speedsup removing the brass after trimming from the pilot and trimmer.
