When cut to length it fits snugly in the channel of a 50 caliber CVA Hawken that was built from a kit. The rifle was used in a trail walk, shot about 25 times with no issues.

I know it doesn't say anything about coming with a cleaning jag, but why do they have it in the picture? Anyway, it doesn't fit my thimbles on my traditions kentucky flintlock, but that's fine. It'll make a good range and cleaning rod

The rod is a cost effective way of a DIY build. Simply measure the length of the rifle barrel and inserted, exposed breach plug, add about 4 inches to allow for handle, and cut. The cut was made with a hack saw. I opted to attach a prefinished wooden handle. Note: the hole in the wooden handle is a bit large, but works if filled with epoxy adhesive. Be sure to rough-up the cut end of the rod with sandpaper to obtain and strong bond to rod.

Its great! Definitely need a different tip for sabot rounds, and I recommend purchasing CVA 1498 palm saver for the handle + some glue.. My ramrod was stuck until a friend showed me how to remove it- and no I have one just for cleaning- no hassle. It worked for my .45 CVA BPI/BPA muzzle loader-truly is universal.

Well constructed the length I ordered I would recommend it highly
