I bought this book for my Anthropology class. I'm glad he let us use any versions after the 10th version! I actually like this book, it's easy to read and all the definitions that you should know is highlighted and it's on the same page. It also gives you explanation as you read along. I find myself reading this text book with enjoyment instead of trying to read it for a class. It doesn't get boring like most text book you read for a college course. Another factor that I like about it? It's not heavy!!
The 11th edition of this text is excellent. However, there are some major differences between the 11th and 12th editions, including the addition of an entire chapeter on Ethnographic Research and its history. Also, at the end of each chapter in both texts there are questions, usually aither 3 or 4, that your professor will ask you to answer. The 12th edition has an extra question added to almost every chapter that the 11th edition does not. In conclusion, the 11th edition is not a good substitution for the 12th edition if you are trying to save money. However, on its own, it is an excellent text.
The 12th edition of this text book is used at a variety of universities across the U.S. This is the 11th edition. My professor said it would be fine to use this edition. there is one chapter that has been added to the 12th edition, so you will need to get a copy of chapter 3.
It is just an assigned book??? Does it really matter if it's good or not? You need it for your class! Who really cares if it's good or not??? :)
Well it was not a matter of like or dislike the book. I had to have it for my class and this was the best place to get it. I guess that asnwers the second queston as to why i decide to buy it? I needed it and this was after all the best place to get my book. I love to shop for my textbooks on half.com
