I bought it as I am new to CNC. I liked the book because the printing is easy to read and clear. The ONLY issue I have found is on page 19, Drawing #10 it shows X+ on a horizontal Lathe (front). On the previous page it shows the X+ Axis as the rear of the lathe. It does go on to state,"Check the programming manuals that come with a machine before making any attempts to program it". That disclaims it, but it is confusing to the learner. Other positive attributes are that it has mini-tests every several pages to ensure subject matter was understood. Thas is outstanding. I also really enjoyed the book and felt it was a great buy.
Dave Hayden has done an exceptional job on the breaking CNC down to the basics. I liked how this book touches up on many different aspects of the cnc machining industry. This author has published several cnc titles in addition to this one, and they are all known to be strong guides.
This book guides you on a clear, concise path to understanding the basics of Computer Numerical Control Programing. It is a self-test type manual, with realistic tests throughout, allowing you to gauge your progress, and restudy any areas that need work. Very good book for anyone looking to break into the field of CNC machining. Thumbs up.
