If you're an Abott and Costello movie fan, then you probably think you know what to expect; but unless you've seen an episode of The Abott and Costello Show, you have no idea of how outrageously out of control these two guys could get. This Christmas Show is no different, and maybe even a bit more over the top than the usual. You get the quirky, the down right strange, the funny, and the wildest screwball comedy all in one DVD. Lou is like a small chubby tornado that really doesn't want to hurt anyone, just have a good deal of fun. I honestly can't understand how he could do such furosious physical comedy without getting hurt badly, and still show up the next day to start practising for next weeks episode. When a kid, my dad always told me how much he liked Abbott and Costello, but I wasn't interested, probably because, unlike The Three Stooges (which were on TV every day after school) I just wasn't given a chance to see them. Now years later, in my 40's, I've begun collecting the films released by Universal, the first of the bunch being Abott and Costello Meet The Mummy, then after loving it, searching out A and B Meet Frankenstein; finally going all the way with the separate Universal boxsets that included all their Universal movies; now hunting high and low for movies from other studios, like MGM. This DVD is a fun piece of Christmas past. Legend Films offers it in two formats, the original Black and White, and a colorized version. Before you groan about the purity of film, I want to say in Legends defense, that at least so far, they are one of the biggest supporters of restoring old film sources for the public, and I've bought a number of their releases for this reason alone. They have taken some of the best movies for sci-fi and fantasy film lover, and classic action movie, etc, and restored them to nice black and white copies, then created a color version in an attempt to draw in younger fans who might never want to see them. Not sure, rent it first, like we did, and if you love it, like we did, buy it, just like we did. Merry ChristmasRead full review

For those of us that remember Christmas in the 1950's, this Abbott and Costello TV classic hits the nail right on the head, and offers a rare and sharp glimpse into the golden age of television, decades before political correctness acquired its strangle hold, when everyone wished to each other (dare I say it?), a Merry Christmas. Drop the PC, and enjoy the laughs from long ago.
