If you are looking for a rocking sequel to Colorblind, then this might not be it. This is a classic fusion of gospel & blues. If it wasn't for the interludes, it would be a super CD. I consider Don't Change and Dry Bones to be the best songs here, straight-up old school blues, not unlike a younger Blind Boys of Alabama. Still Belong & Don't Wanna Be A Soldier have a 70s vibe, with Santana/Stevie-Ray -like guitar. The steel guit-box in Had My Way makes it sound countryesque and Don't Walk provides a good example of Randolph's gospel roots. Back to the Wall has a retro soul feel, old school R&B. While the production is stellar, and the black spirituals unique while still true to their roots, this outing might have limited appeal. Traveling Shoes should have stuck with a more reggae beat and plods a bit.Read full review
....and I haven't even listened to it all yet!!! Awesome tunes....simply an amazing sound! You can hear how much thought and time and energy was invested into bringing 100 years of music history to the forefront of the 21st century. This is my first Robert Randolph album and it's already making me want to go buy the others!!!
True Robert Randolph! If you love Robert Randolph and his music, you can't go wrong. Of course, he combines some soul gospel with his music. Great
