I LOVE il Divo and this CD did not disappoint me in any way. My favorites are "Without You" - just AWESOME, and "You Raise Me Up"... topped off by "Somewhere" from West Side Story. Just an incredible CD! These guys are just AMAZING! My favorite is URS, from Switzerland. Not only can he SING, he plays 5 instruments and speaks 5 languages. His voice is so unusual... someone described it as "reed-like" and I have to agree. His amount of "vibrato" is discernible, but the vibrations are so fast, he does almost sound like an instrument. A RARE jewel, indeed! Not only is he a very talented singer and musician, he is pretty easy to look at too. The more you gaze at him, the more you appreciate his unusual combination of flawless features! He is a work of Art indeed, and his Creator is GOD Himself! Praising God for you, URS!!! What a blessing you are to mortals!Read full review
I enjoyed listening to all the songs on this CD, especially the ones sung in Spanish & Italian including IL Divo's versions of well-known songs like "Nights in White Satin", "Without You" & "You Raise Me Up." The fourth well-known song included on this CD - "Somewhere" - the Bonus Track - is sung in English. The main reason I bought this CD was mostly to hear how IL Divo sang The Moody Blues' classic rock song - "Nights in White Satin" - one of my all-time favorite songs. They did an excellent job singing this song. I think it's great that the song lyrics were included - I'm learning how to sing in Italian and Spanish! :=D
I had heard another CD by this group and was impressed, so I bought "Siempre" as a Valentine gift for my husband. While it is not as spectacularly wonderful as I had hoped, the CD is nevertheless a pleasant collection of old favorite love songs arranged in a semi-operatic style and well performed. We enjoyed listening to it once, but did not immediately put it on to play again. The only reason I did not rate it as "excellent" is that the selection of songs was quite ordinary, and I had expected something a bit different.
I saw El Divo on a talk show and liked their performance. It was in English and they said their aim was to bring opera to the masses in a contemporary way. When I saw an album on Ebay's deals of the day, I decided to buy it. If you were raised on Elvis, the Beatles and Chuck Berry, as I was, this is not your CD. The first I heard English was the last song, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. But I believe the other songs will grow on me. These men are really good at showing emotion through their voices. And the arrangements and harmonies are really good. I do like some opera and this is a perfect CD to satisfy my "once in a while" taste for opera! I recommend this CD to all who love opera and to all who want some opera in their song libraries.
I have to say Il Divo has officially become my favorite group of classic voices. Their voices and talent blend in a musical and emotional way that moves you to feel the music rather than simply hear it. Their voices are charged with passion, power, humility and at times even sorrow. This CD specifically is a personal favorite, you must get it!
