This is 1982's soundtrack to a really gory and creepy (for its time) flick about incestuous leopards that can only mate with their own, or else they turn into human beings, and once humans, must kill another human to again become a leopard. Two humans from this circle of cats, living in the human world, discover each other, and for the early 80's, it was a pretty killer movie to watch as a young teen. And it wouldn't have been the same without the music, and David Bowie's contribution, among others. Before Bowie's 2002 greatest hits double-CD, the single from this soundtrack, "Putting out Fire," wasn't anywhere else to be found but here on this soundtrack, which was out of print for a long period. Strange and haunting, it's highly recommended for those who have a taste for the weird and eerie. It's got lots of instrumentals on it as well that are all part of the whole Cat People Experience. I've been searching high and low for the soundtrack for this 1980's Remake of "Cat People". I am very pleased to have finally bought it. EVERY track is superb driving music (Love to listen to this in my car!). Surely one of Vangelis's most haunting scores. It also includes, "Putting Out The Fire With Gasoline", performed by the great David Bowie. If you dig electronic/synthesizer music, you will love this soundtrack.
