What a great addition to my home theater setup. I’ve just begun going separates for my system and this unit is exactly what I needed. It provides 125 watts of power per channel driving my decibels right where I want them. I am using it to power my 4 surrounds. It’s like I got new speakers with the way they sound. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend.

This is about the B&K ST1200 II (funny link when I clicked through to a Carver amp I've never owned). The B&K ST1200 II surprised me. It is rated at 60x2 into 8 ohms. I hooked it to 4 ohm speakers and was comparing to an Aragon 8008 amp (200x2 into 8 ohms, doubling to 400x2 into 4 ohms). I planned on using the ST1200 for second zone use but thought what the heck-I'll throw it against the big dog and see what happens. The Aragon was better...but not that much. The B&K has more power than it has a right to for starters. It also has a nice smooth mid and treble. A little soft on the details at the very top but a much better compromise than amps that give you a lean top end. Bass was rich, warm and low with this amp. It really does have amazing sound for both it's size and price. It sounds very similar to the Ref 200 (I also have one of these). I think this amp would be very satisfying for most people in their main setup, even though it's marketed as a second zone amp. I'd put it right up against 200x2 designs I've heard from Sony ES, Adcom, Yamaha, etc.Read full review
This is a powerful and neutral sounding amp. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the neutral sound of Carver (harsh with wrong components). It is one of many Carver I have bought and used, but it is one of my favorite. It is perfect for home theater purposes. I dislike the size and weight of the unit, but for the power, it has to be this large. It is truly 5 X 125W.
very powerful, great sound,im using a outlaw 950 preamp and it sounds great with music and ht.cant go wrong.peace igot it for 200 plus 40 sh.
It is an okay amplifier producing a more towards harsh midrange which may be also speaker related in my case I prefer the AV 806X for a more balanced sound.
