I love the movie "Carrie" directed by Brian DePalma, starring Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, John Travolta and P.J. Soles. So I was very excited to see this version, when NBC announced it will remake Carrie. But I was wrong. It's one of those movies, that no one should ever dare remake... like Vertigo, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Gone with the Wind, or Road Trip (joke.) Well, I was wrong. NBC did it. I haven't read all of the book, but comparing to the original film, and this remake, I thought it was on the borderline of okay and bad. Although it was toned down for television, and didn't really have that much gory scenes, as I wanted it to be, like in the original. I guess it's only me, if you just take a bunch of good looking people, and shove it into a movie, you'll get a remake (or the MTV soft pornography show, "Undressed") hoping to score some decent ratings for the night. The movie wasn't all that bad, seeing some familiar faces like Emile DeRavin (best known as Tess from "Roswell"), Rena Sofer (who I loved in "Melrose Place", as Amanda's psycho friend), Katharine Isabelle (who does her best performances in Ginger Snaps.) I was very surprised to Jesse Cadotte (Billy Nolan), and Kandyse McClure (Sue Snell) in a movie together. They previously worked together in an episode of "The Outer Limits" (which was also shot in Canada), and both pulled it off well, in that very dramatic episode. Well, this time, all their performances was okay, to my standards. To me... wanting to 'kill' a few hours... this is a perfect movie.Read full review

Carrie White didn't take it sitting down and who can blame her?? Carrie White played by Sissy Spacek was the quintessential bully victim..shy, sweet with a huge inferiority (sp) complex, not her fault her bible thumping Mother played by Piper Laurie (I just love her and her name) bullied and abused her helpless Daughter at home..bullied both at school and at home and driven by the need to be loved and respected Carrie decides to explore her supernatural gifts..as she did this two high schoolers decide enough is enough and they try to help Carrie (unknown to Carrie) what happens is everyones nightmare both kids and their parents..prom night can be littered with all kinds of disasters..the most notable drunk driving..no one would expect a shy sweet teenagers explosive anger would result in such a mass carnage..this Steven King movie is the best of all except of course "It" how I loved that movie..Fans of horror who have yet to watch this are in for a treat..and if you decide to bully someone at school watch this film and remember you never know what gifts someone may hold, so think twice..better yet grow up!Read full review
