I had custom clubs made two years ago and have struggled to hit the ball clean. Then I stumbled across the Callaway Xhot series at a store clearance. Immediately I was making excellent contact and getting the distance my game needed. Since then, I've been hunting down more and more Xhot clubs for my bag. Thank you Callaway for making golf enjoyable to play! Tammy P. SoCal

I bought this vintage club because of all the excellent reviews, several of which were written within the past year. My 2009 Wilson Staff 3 wood, as well as my Cobra S3 Max 3 wood are both good clubs, but I'm inconsistent with them. I have played two rounds with the Steelhead III, and this is indeed a sweet 3 wood. Off the tee, it has consistently given me drives of 200+ yards, my best so far being 224. I'm a high handicapper, 66 yo, who just got into golf in 2011. The Steelhead III sets up very well at address, giving me confidence. Balls take off like a rocket, with a mid trajectory, and fly straight and true. The Uniflex steel shaft might be part of the reason this old club performs so well. The shaft is about 1-1/2" shorter than my other 3 woods, which makes it easier to control without apparently sacrificing distance. If you're having trouble with your driver and/or 3 wood, this classic beauty could be the solution. ps--a big Thank You to all of the other golfers who took the time to review this club--I wouldn't have considered buying a club this old if it weren't for all the positive reviews it generates.Read full review
Low profile design, great launch angle, featherweight comfort. Creates penetrating power. A must for my bag.

Having subscribed to Golf magazine for years, i had happened onto an article on club ratings "Best of the best" and was suprised to see that most of the experts rated the Callaway steelhead III as the best all time fairway wood ever made !! At the time this club was out of production by 5-10 years, so i made it a quest to locate the best possible speciman in a #3-#5 wood, i was very pleased to find several well maintained woods out there in the $50-$75 range !! And true to the survey a wonderful club to hit, very solid feel at impact, the original metal shaft had a uni-flex to it, which allowed players of all swing speeds to use with the same results of consistent ball flight. In review: just one of the those few bargains in life that actually exceeds the cost of the purchase !!
A great club that gets the ball off the ground and flying down the fairway. It's very light and easy to hit.
