I am a 68 year old golfer with a 10 handicap. I have always had trouble with my fairway woods and decided to go with just a 3 hybrid to get the ball up and straight...although shorter off the flat stuff. I only used my 3 wood off the tee for tight fairways. However, I won a Callaway Diablo 3 wood at a club tournament and found that it solved nearly all my problems. The ball stopped fading and behold sored into the heavens long and straight. I was so impressed that I bought a 5 wood to match and dropped my 3 hybrid. The shafts were regular flexes and had a low kickpoint with a slight draw face. This immediately instilled confidence in my swing and produced much better hits thru the heavy and off the short stuff. For the price, you might try to demo one...I think you might like it. bill, renoRead full review
I've always had an interest in the game of golf but never took a swing at it because anyone who's left-handed knows the difficulty of finding left-handed items in stock. Or the price increase compared to right-handed equipment was just enough discouragement to keep me from trying. Well about 4 years ago, my two brother-in-laws and a very good friend, whom all played golf in high school when they were younger and still enjoy the game today, decided to introduce me to the game. Just so happened the 2 brother's knew their granddad had a left-handed set of Dunlop 2400 Series clubs, albeit ladies clubs, but you got to start somewhere. I was horrible my first time out and almost gave up but hung in there. So I've upgraded a couple of clubs here and there, my latest being the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo #3 FW. I purchased this club used in very good shape but had it re-gripped with red Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G Grips. The club is light, balanced, and has a nice feel to it. I've only had the chance to use it 4 separate trips to the course, so I'm still working on the transformation of using my Knight Devastator 3 Wood which is a pretty sweet club also, but I digress. It took reaching the back 9 before I started to get the feel of the Callaway BB Diablo, but when I did, the ball flew off the face of the club and has a pretty nice sound when the ball meets that sweet spot. I was able to reach the green on a par 5 in 2 hits with this club. That says a lot for me since I have a tendency to fade my shots to the left of the fairway. This club is forgiving and I hit straighter with a gain of 10-15 yards off the tee. I think it's a great club, worth every penny. Another great product from Callaway. And thanks guys for the encouragement out on the course to keep trying and not to give up on the game. Little did they know they were creating a golfaholic :) Now to work on my short game.Read full review
At 67 years of age I realized my stiff shaft Titleist driver had become too much for me to control thru an entire round. This Diablo allows me to swing with much less force and returns the lift and trajectory I’d lost with the stiff shaft, and produces true straight shots. Distance is only slightly less than my best with the Titleist.

What can I tell you about CALLAWAY's Big Bertha Diablo? (I have The 9 degree driver, 15 degree 3W & the 3 Hybrid.) I have been a Callaway guy for years & these clubs are the best that I have ever used. The low center of gravity really gets the ball airborne, quickly, for all of them. This is the driver that Rocco used to get into the playoffs at the 2008 US Open, only to lose the 18 hole playoff to Tiger. These feel so good, that my friend has them & my brother-in-law also got some! It's really all about the feel, for me, as it inspires confidence & that's the 1st step to playing your best! They are also sharp looking clubs & the headcovers are equally brilliant. These sell quickly, because the HIGH demand for them is easy to understand once you hit them! They look great & they feel as good as they look! My wife approved of them & that's the kind of endorsement that you can't buy! Try them out for yourself & you'll see why I'm thrilled with mine.Read full review
There is a lot I can say about the Big Bertha Diablo Fairway Wood, let me first start by saying that if you’re looking for a forgiving accurate wood look no farther. Before I bought this club I had a huge gap in distance between my driver and my 3 hybrid this wonderful club fixed that gap. Very easy to swing very quick learning curve I honestly cannot think of one single negative thing I can say about the club. The MOI of the club is such that I haven’t mishit a single shot yet and as soon as I got the club I hit probably 500 balls and even when my swing wasn’t perfect (trust me there was a lot of that happening) the club recovered for me. This club is also very aesthetically pleasing when I got it I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. It feels wonderful in my hands lightweight for the people (like me) that tend to swing quicker. The one thing I was worried about was the loft of the club I tend to like to keep my woods and hybrids lower but after using the club I found that the 15 degree loft is actually quite nice great of off tees and on the fairway. Unfortunately I cannot tell you if I like it more or less than other similar 3 woods because the last 3 wood I had was about 5 years old so I cannot give a fair comparison to it. I can however tell you that the Big Bertha Diablo is probably solely in terms of price the best I have seen. I would absolutely recommend this club to just about everyone I am so very happy with it and in fact just in talking about it make me want to hit it some more.Read full review
