This book is well worth every dollar paid for it and more. Having just bought a pool table we needed some tips on playing pool. My husband had not played in the past 40 years and I had never played at all. This book is helpful to the beginner as well as someone who has some experience. The author has a sense of humor which makes reading even more enjoyable. As the book progresses, tips are given and diagrams are shown to address most any situation a player would encounter. When my husband found out how easy it is to hit a ball resting on the edge of the playing surface right into the pocket, he was overjoyed. As he has followed the tips in this book, he has seen a marked improvement in his game. This book continues to sit on our coffee table as a reference book and certainly has our recommendation to other ebayers.Read full review
This is money well spent for the beginner and intermediate player. The diagrams are clearly illustrated and explained. Byrne shows exactly what happens when cueball and object balls interact and how to make that happen for the desired effect. You hear a lot of BS in poolhalls and bars from people who may or may not know what they're talking about. This is the factual information. The best money you can spend on learning about pool or billiards.

This is a great how to book for anybody who likes to shoot pool. It has instruction from the most basic to fairly advanced. I have found that it is good for my shooting to go back and review the basics once in a while. It also has the rules for many games which can prevent arguments among players. I decided to buy this book because a friend had a copy and he got tired of me borrowing it. Now I have my own copy and this will stay in my reference library.
I am a 26 year old currently playing league 9-ball/8-ball and I grew up with a pool table in my house. I wish I would have found this book earlier. It really opens your eyes to a lot of creative shots that you might have over looked. This book is great for beginners because of how it breaks stuff down but it covers all the way up to advance skill. I own 3 billards books and this is the best I have ever read.
Easy to read book and detailed
