Very much enjoyed the book. It was very well written in a wry sort of way. The reason why it was written (as the author is well known for writing expose’s) was that there was a person that was a subject of the book that wanted the methods used to win at 21 or blackjack to be known. That being the case, the important ingredient is that of a team, there were several people working a system that required more than one person. There were several systems given --- the one that struck me most as the more effective one is betting and drawing cards in such away as to cause the dealer to bust their hand. The way that this is done is that the team sits at the same table and memorizes the shoe of cards, as difficult as it might seem. This difficult task is done by the use of mnemonics. I will leave it to the reader to look that word up. I have read a number of books on gambling now, and they all are very interesting and all have a slightly different point of view. As to the question of whether or not an individual can make money at playing cards, say, I would have to say yes it is possible. Those methods might be found with the successful stock market players, I think, as the two sets of gambling or risk, while not being identical, are similar. Perhaps using a computer that has a BASIC programming package installed on it would be of help, as this programming language has an easy to use random number generator in its syntax. You know, to program simulations.Read full review
The book is an easy read with great stories about blackjack, casinos, and life! However, I read "21 Bringing Down the House" first, and I feel that "21" is a much better book with more realized techniques for the normal blackjack player! I would recommend the book and you can easily read it in a week!
