This book is required for a class I'm taking. It's an ok book, just not one I would normally get. I feel that the author is good, but this type of book is a bit slanted in the viewpoint, but then it matches up with the instructor so for his purposes this book is a perfect fit. This book is suppose to open my mind to how the Indians feel, yet it doesn't take into account that in history when one nation is conquered, the rules change. jmo
I read this book in high school in the 1970's and purchased this copy to read again. This is a VERY compelling story.

A heart wrenching account of what "White American's" did to the Native Americans. What is sad is that "White American's" continue to abuse the Natives by stealing their land, taking payment for mineral rights on their reservations, & many other abuses. I got interested in Lakota history when I made a Lakota friend & heard, read & saw on A&E the account of Leonard Peltier in the AIM uprising at Wound Knee in the 1970's. Look into it & you will be ashamed to be a "White American".
