I have had a brother before and I am thrilled to have this new and improved model. I want to spend more time sewing as this machine makes it fun. I haven't had a chance to use all its features yet. I already know we will sew together for a long time. Thanks for listing this wonderful machine.

While outward appearances would indicate this is a well made sewing machine the inside tells a different story, sever key parts of this machine are made of white plastic, Gears and linkages that are no longer available and once they fail render the machine nothing but a parts machine, I would not recommend purchasing one of these machines unless you want it just for display

Really love the machine. It was easy to get acquainted with, was using it in earnest within a couple hours. Probably could have been used in earnest straight out of the box, but I wanted to REALLY get to know it! Really easy to thread, bobbin threading and drop in is a snap. Decorative stitches are easy to access, combining stitches seems easy, have not mastered it yet. Also like the beep and display when I forget to do or do something incorrectly. Love the electronic display for help. Much easier than digging through the manual. My only complaint is that the first time I had to change the needle the threader stopped working. Tech support was no help, and the nearest dealer is 300+ miles from me. Machine design makes manual threading tricky, and besides, who wants to do that if the machine is supposed to accomplish the task?! I'd recomend the machine to anyone, just beware of the needle change/threader problem.Read full review
I previously had a Brother Innovis-40 that I really enjoyed, but wanted even more features and stitches. This Brother PC-420 ROCKS! I used to be a beginning- to- slightly- intermediate sewer, but with these two Brother machines I've had I am now intermediate, and spending so much time and enjoyment sewing that "advanced" is on the horizon. The Brother PC-420 has SO many stitches to choose from, and I have used several of them already in this first month of ownership. Some I would have considered a waste before, but the ease of use of this machine and the clear instructions in the user's manual make me feel as though any technique or stitch is manageable--and they are. I have even attempted, and enjoyed, free-motion quilting with the PC-420. The machine comes with almost all the feet you'd ever need for any type of project (and a nice storage compartment for them), and those you don't have are affordable enough to find someplace like eBay. Included is the zipper foot, zigzag foot, walking foot, darning/free-motion quilting foot, button-hole foot, monogramming foot, open-toe foot, overcast foot, blind-stitch foot, and probably some others I've forgotten--oh, and a foot you can actually sew a button ON with! Threading is a breeze (and I thought the Innovis-40 was easy). I love the "scissors" button to cut thread at the end of a stitch so you're not hunting for your real scissors. It's super quiet, ready to use right out of the box, and reading through the entire manual in an evening's sitting gets your creative juices flowing without overwhelming you! This will be easy to teach my daughter to sew on when she's older, especially with the speed control. So fun! Such a good machine. Even with all the features and choices, learning how to navigate through the menus and using the buttons is fairly straightforward, and again, easy to read in the manual. I would buy it again and again. I found no bad reviews anywhere about it, and with the features for the money, it's an awesome value. A friend has a Viking that has the same features, and I know she paid double what I paid for mine. I highly suggest this machine!Read full review
This machine has many great features that you only see on higher end sewing machines! Thread cutter, pressure foot knee lifter and automatic needle threader that works EVERY time! A very smooth and QUIET running machine I have been sewing for many years and sew almost everyday and this is the best!
