I found the scanner does a good job, it was easy to setup. The images were pretty good. How ever, it is hard to scan small photographs because the edge of the photo gets caught. It also seems to drain the batteries fast, so keep replacement batteries handy.

Several years ago I bought an iConvert slide scanner & processed 1,000+ slides. When this unit no longer would scan , or "show" my slides, I bought this new replacement. The replacement that I bought a few weeks ago does exactly the same thing. I thought it could be my lack of expertise in deleting "old" software and installing the the software that came with the scanner. I had my son start all over and repeat the installation. Same result - Looks like prior reviews, added to my present experience, will make me look for new technology that will help me scan about 3,500 more slides. Does anyone know of something that will work?

Works very well for copying slides onto an SD card to put into your computer. Quick and easy. I am a little leery of the plastic frame that you use to hold the slides. The plastic frame is a little flimsy and I am afraid its going to break each time I open it to load and unload the slides. Just be careful, It has not broken, but I am taking extra care to be very careful. If you have a lot of slides, this is a slow process because you can only load 4 slides at a time in the holder. Also for editing you have to scan through all 4 choices instead of backing up one. This makes it a little more time consuming if doing a large quantity, a simple fix for future models. A little difficult to clean with just the little brush that is supplied with it. If you are careful you should not have to clean it very often. I only used for slides not negatives, so I can not comment on that usage of the product. I would not buy this new for the price that was put on it, but if you can find one that someone used to copy their slides and now they are done, selling it at a reduced price, then its a great deal. With today's technologies, I would not pay more than 25.00 to 30.00 for this.Read full review
If you have tons of slides sitting in boxes and want to archive or print them, and you're not too picky about resolution and color accuracy, this is a great product. It is easy to use, sets up quickly and scans fast. If you're looking for perfection you're going to need to spend a lot more than something like this. For the price it is a fair deal.

I bought this scanner to convert boxes of print photos, mostly of our kids when they were much younger (when we were ALL much younger!). I was looking for something easy to use, and that did a good job of scanning without a lot of muss and fuss. My Brookstone iConvert Photo Scanner fills the bill. I have the smaller of the two models - it won't handle larger prints, but the ones it does handle turn out great. It took a few test scans to get the hang of feeding the prints in so they'd scan right, but once I did that, it's just been a matter of setting aside time to scan. I use the memory card to transfer images from the scanner to my computer - I had a couple cards from various digital cameras that worked just fine.
