One of the darker movies of the fun-loving 80s, "Less Than Zero" showcases the incredible talent that was Robert Downey, Jr. Unfortunately, it also seemed to foreshadow his future drug use. Notwithstanding that, it is an honest look at what the 80s were about when you had too much money and too much free time. Jamie Gertz is one of the unsung actresses of the decade, often overlooked due to the fact that she came out around the same time as Demi Moore and Molly Ringwold. Andrew McCarthy gives a sound performance in his "nice guy" role. This one is definitely worth a look.
2 famous 80s high school movies actors James Spader and Andrew McCarthy are teamed up together again with Robert Downey Jr. practically playing himself. This movie is memorable, but it's the MUSIC SCORE by Thomas Newman, that puts it over the top. Of course it has great 80's songs as well as some other songs too. Oh, and there is a pretty hot looking chick, that plays the girlfriend. She looks like Alyssa Milano or Teri Hatcher.

This is a movie I saw in my teens---The 80's and scenes from it have stuck with me. This is a young Robert Downey Jr. role that is very memorable. You see the lives and relationships of 3 friends and their families and the effect drug abuse can have on them. Some teens may find it too dated but the point it makes is more relavent today than when it was released. Good movie- not for kids!
I love the time and the characters, but it had a sad ending,
