This is a good book. We are currently using it to learn how to make sourdough bread, since it is nearly impossible to buy decent sourdough bread in Colorado! While it is a good book on how to cook bread, but it is not the kind of cookbook we are used to using, where you just open and follow a recipe. It's more of a cookbook you study, and use some of this and some of that information. So far, we really like it. I gave it 4 stars just because it isn't the typical cookbook. I was also able to purchase a used copy at a bargain price, so that made it easier for me, should my purchase have been in vain.
If you are a bread baking beginner this is a good introductory book. It has the same information that is available on the web but its in one concise book. There are other books that will be much more valuable for the semi-experienced and beyond. These other books would show alternate methods and many other recipes plus much more in depth information to correct things that are not going as expected.. There are also a couple of books to achieve near professional results.
