August 28th, 2017 I own several Braun electric shavers. (2) Series 3 (3) Series 5 and (2) Series 7 I am most impressed with the shave I recieve using the Series 5 electric shavers. They get extremely close and shave as well as a manual blade razor. The other Braun Series shavers are mediocre at best and the Series 7 offers the worst shave of them all. As for the Series 5 I love the Shavers and I have never used the cleaning station base. I use hot water and rinse the shaver well. Then I oil the foil and cutters monthly. I highly recommend Series 5

I've tried a few times to switch away from a blade to an electric razor and both times, tried Braun razors. I could never quite feel that I got as close a shave with electrics, and kept coming back to blades. I decided to try again and purchased this highly rated Braun Series 5. It is a very nice razor, but after two weeks of shaving exclusively with it, I'm almost ready to switch back to a blade. After five minutes of going over my beard, I notice small areas around my cheekbone, my chin and around my adams apple that just don't feel or look neatly shaved. Five minutes is quite a bit longer than it takes me to lather up and shave with a blade, so this is certainly not a time saver either. But the part that really gets me about Gillette's acquisition of Braun's shaver business is that they've built some continuing revenue stream for themselves into this razor. They want you to purchase cleaner that lasts about 30 days that you put your shaver into every day. It supposedly cleans and lubricates the system for you, and does seem to make for a nice shave with a faint lemon fragrance. But at about $6 for a 30 day supply, this works out to more than I would spend on blades in a month! Nice move Gillette, but I don't think I'm gonna play this game too much longer.Read full review
Quiet, shaves as close or closer than any other electric razor I have had. The comb that is part of the mesh screen works well for longer stray hairs. The cleaner is great but I can see where it could get pricy buying new cartridges. I have just been using the cleaner every few shaves and the rest of the time, cleaning it manually, which seems to work fine. Overall a nice shaver if you can get it at a good price.
I saw the series 3 at Sam's Club which made me realize my Norelco was over 13 years old. I researched all the Braun series - 1,3,5,7 - and came to believe the series 5 would shave any lying down hairs and I would only have to shave any area with a single pass. After 3 weeks of use I found the "single pass" statement to be entirely inaccurate. Even with multiple passes the series 5 doesn't get all the hair and my old Norelco even gives me a closer shave. Another drawback it the alcohol tub. It starts evaporating from the moment you open it! The shaver print out says even unused the alcohol tub will only last 4 weeks. I was willing to pay a bit more to get a better shave but the series 5 didn't deliver and would continue to cost me every single month to keep the alcohol tub filled. Oh yeah, the series 5 is now a discontinued series so it may be difficult to purchase replacement parts. The series 7 may do a better job with it's vibrations but it is too costly for my budget.Read full review
I previously shaved with a Braun 320, thought it time to replace it. This 570cc seems to be OK after using for a few weeks. No major improvement in closeness of shave, seems to be a bit louder than my old one. Does not come with a protective plastic cap to protect the foil, nor does one seem to be available from any source, including Braun. The best thing about this unit, in my opinion, is the cleaning system. Not positive that it is an improvement over the 320 other than the cleaning unit. The cleaning cartridges are somewhat expensive. I guess the old adage " If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It" applies here.
