I like that it brews coffee super fast, it had excellent ratings from coffeegeek.com, and my mother has one that I like as well. It does not extract the level of flavor that I had expected. My coffee still seems to be a little off. Sometimes it brews great, and other times not as well. I believe it could be because I only brew enough for myself, and generally, the more you brew, in otherwords, the pots full capacity, the better it comes out. That appears to be true. It is very difficult to find a four cup coffee machine, that brews hot enough, to extract enough flavor. Kitchenaid, has one, or had one, a discontinued model, that is occasionaly listed on ebay. It's really just too big for what I need, and I paid too much for it. I will probably end up, selling it on ebay. So, basically it's an average pot, not a great pot. I think next time I will try a Kitchenaid. Also, had good reviews.Read full review
This is my 3rd Braun KF-180, no longer being made. Glad to have located this one. Made the mistake of allowing liquid into the base of the first two after many years of service. Much smaller footprint than current models of all brands, with same 12-cup capacity. Braun should base future models of their coffee makers on the design of this one.

I researched coffee makers and finally decided on this model. It made really great coffee and we liked the 12 cup size. We used it every day. However, a year or so after we bought it, it started to leak water out the bottom of the coffee maker. Eventually, it would not hold water at all. Naturally, it was no longer under warranty, but we sent it to the manufacturer anyway, hoping that it could be fixed. Several weeks later a technician called us to say that they had examined the coffee maker, but this machine had a mechanism that was susceptible to deterioration, and that it was not as good as previous models, which had sturdier components. It could not be fixed for a reasonable price and we could buy a new one more cheaply. We had an older 10 cup Braun stored away as a backup, so we got it out and have been using it ever since. However, it was disappointing that it was not made better.Read full review
I have had one of these Braun KF 180 coffee makers for at least 8 years now and it is still going strong. Since I had this opportunity to find another one in basically new condition I decided to buy it as a spare. Most of the new design coffee makers are larger than I want taking up too much counter space. Also, I have noted during my internet research that a number of the newer models I looked at as possible alternatives seem to have a relatively short life span. The now discontinued Braun KF 180s, especially those that were made in Germany rather than Mexico seem to last indefinitely. My wife and I make probably on an average of 2 pots a day and have been using the KF 180 for that purpose for as long as we have owned it. Unbelievably reliable unit.
There is nothing like a great cup of coffee and Braun is the best you can get! I've had my coffee maker for over twenty years. Yeah, those were the days when capitalism was about qualitative manufacturing. So glad that I was able to find a carafe for my coffee maker. It is excellent and, nothing beats the quality.
