Home, online or abroad a tourny this book will break down your last question on statagies and maybe you'll see your million $$$$$$$ baby. 394 chauked pages on poker management, I read some parts of the book thoroughly even though I would never try to beat the stress or game on this style card game. Texas Hold'em, the role of the dealer, betting, steal blinds, limit hold'em, you'll get Phil's ideals on how the game can become like the Pros. Phil Hellmuth Jr. played against some and the best of this trade, his book is worth reading and once you begin to read you may not put the book down. When going in against all odds and the best shouldn't you get the top card from one of the top players of the world. I enjoyed his illustration on Animal Names on player action. I think if I was interested in this sport that Phil's 9 World Champion's would be enough to read his book and never mind the rate of the reviews. His clear concise information inside the book is personal experience and the do's verses the dont's will sharpen your skills. Staying cool under pressure and tourny play is probably your ticket to huge money purse. Phil also talks about online poker, even though there has been cheat in this type of poker (online poker). I say good luck to you and read this book for your own personal goals.... Was this review helpful? (PLEASE PRESS YES OR NO AFTER YOU READ), TKS Read full review
Honestly, this is the worst poker book I've read. It did not teach me anything new and I have only been playing for 2 years or so. His writing skills are lacking and he jumps around too much. When he's talking about playing online, he mentions that body language is important when you want to decide to check, raise, or just call. Well how can you do that when you are playing online? Ok you can remember how that person has played so far but unless you have special powers, you cannot see the other person's body language on party poker!! I think Phil Hellmuth was just trying to write a book because he is supposedly famous. Yeah well, nice try- this is not a good book for the beginner or the experienced player.
Phil Helmuth's book "Play Poker Like the Pros" is a great book for beginners, amatuers, and pro's alike. Although much of his book is geared for new comers to the game, Phil's insight on Poker Stradegy is great for anyone who loves the game. This is the first Poker book I ever purchased, and it improved my game by leaps and bounds. Although I've come to find my own style, as he would recommend, I still use several fundamentals that Helmuth wrote on. This book is a MUST READ any poker fanatic, I couldn't lay it down! It will helps you poker knowledge & wallet grow greatly! And as always may your cards be live and your pots be monsters!
The book arrived a little damaged, but not terrible. Very bad paper, the cheapest possible.

Im just a beginner with dreams of someday being a poker legend. This is a nice book in my view. The main thing I like is that this book quickly teaches you how important things like position, reading ur opponents, and chip stack(yours & your opponents) are. You can't go wrong reading this book!!! Now I've taken what I learned from this book and moved on to more advanced books, but reading this book FIRST was right, as I am now a better/smarter player because of this book.
