I've run this on a first gen Surface running Windows 10, and even downgraded to 8.1. Surface recognizes it, but it doesn't work with the single app it was built for. It was never broadly sold, and perhaps it's just not very stable. I had high hopes....

This item is new, however, keep in mind that there are issues for this cover to working with systems newer than Windows 8 ver 9200. All you will get is plug in this cover, it lights up, and that's all. Unless you have a Windows 8 surface pro, pro2, rt2, and you have the music app installed, it WON'T work.

The keyboard is very cool, but on a Surface Pro 1, the keyboard flashes once but doesn't work. It's sad, because the software works...even looks like it may have been updated this year. So this doesn't work anymore it seems, but I'm holding out hope that someone figures out how to patch the system so it will work. I was hopeful the blade concept would take off, and they'd figure out a way to make double-sided blades; on one side, a traditional keyboard, and the other, a unitasker, like the music blade.

Mounts quickly, docks without issue. Works perfectly. Is a great example of the direction Microsoft could have gone if they hadn't hired idiotic minority amateur authors like Nutella & Suckar (instead of people who can actually do their job). Well worth the money. Unlike Satay and Donga.
