I have over a dozen UltraFire brand flashlights, most being the WF501 or 502 models in red, green, and white. This is the first one I have purchased from eBay-others came from Amazon. I was hesitant to buy here because of a perceived higher risk of knock-offs. In honesty, this may be an UltraFire knock off, but it appears to be built with similar quality and IMO is likely to last as long. Differences between this one and every other UltraFire I have: The finish on this one is glossy, others are matte. Style and size, this one is smaller and about 1 oz. lighter (at 4.80oz with 18650 battery installed) Internal reflective lens finish-this one has a bit of an orange peel finish, others are smooth. Tail cap construction-this one uses a spiral/traditional spring. Others are a mix of spring and push button spring style. This is important as the push button style have been known to blow apart due to recoil, especially with shorter 18650 cells (read on). UltraFire markings on the body appear to use slightly different style/shape. Knock off or simply different paint and font? The body diameter still measures about 1" (0.989"/25.0mm) at the knurling, perfect for mounting in a 1" scope mount and attaching to a picatinny/weaver rail. it also fits the shorter (65mm overall) 18650 style battery, common to recycled laptop batteries, whereas some genuine UltraFire lights require spacers (dimes work well). IMO/experience, light output of this green model would be sufficient up to 200 yards with magnification (scope), assuming you have safely identified your target and what's beyond. Light gathering ability of the scope will also be a factor. I did test the light output with a fully charged 18650 (4.2 volts) vs. two CR123 batteries (approx. 6 volts) and saw no noticeable difference in light output. I prefer the 18650 due to recharge ability, but versatility is nice in a pinch. I also like that this model doesn't have annoying multiple modes that start with a strobe; it's either on or off. Simple and effective. Is it a $100+ Streamlight? No, and I have several of those as well (in green and white). Does it work well as a hunting light where your life doesn't depend on it? Absolutely. Buy a few and keep spares and you'll have money left over for a lifetime of batteries.Read full review
