Boss OC 3 Super Octave pedal has a wide range of good tones, some better than others. The Poly mode fits best with riffs to my ears. OC2 mode is a bit glitchy, and the drive mode is so-so- again, to my ears. This is one you really have to dial in to taste. Then, you can “set it & forget it”.

Boss OC-3 is a good unit that does what it is supposed to do.
I use the unit to play tunes that do not need a complicated Bass line. Tunes with a good 1 and 5 bass line work extremely well. The bass cutoff knob works very well where you can only put the bass on the top two strings of the guitar. If you use your hand to mute the top two strings ( or you can put lite foam rubber the perfect length ) under the top two strings it works even better for me. You play bass on the top two strings and the others ring free. You do not have a choice of bass sounds you only get the one sound and it is kind of like bass foot pedals on a keyboard. That would be the only way to make this better is give us some more choices of bass sounds. I am sure as technology marches forth that will come to pass. I play a lot of old country and ballads and it works great. I also use it with a MEL9 which puts a string line under everything and a drum machine. I can play gigs with no sequences or tapes. Lot better than a stupid looper.Read full review

Boss 0C-3 super octave pedal
This is a cool pedal. I play acoustic guitar with a canyon reverb. I wanted to thicken up the top e & a strings. I use this on about 25% of it's capacity , but that's all that's needed for what I do. Works good if you run bass line walks in your music. Bass comes through nice through the PA.

Bought this used. Since it didn't come with instructions, I had to go to YouTube and got great help on showing me how to set the Boss OC-3 for different settings and got that sound I was looking for. I did have to order an AC power plug for it. Battery operated. Uses 9V square.
