While this is not going to offer a wealth of information for the accomplished entertainer, this book provides very good easy ideas for entertaining a variety of company. It contains advice and suggestions that may seem to go against the trend of "up-scale" entertaining that has become so prevelant---such as spaghetti or meatloaf for company. However, there is something to be said for good, old-fashioned comfort food. There are a number of recipes---all easy, all great stand-by type fare. I purchased this book looking for a fresh approach to "company is coming" beacuse even with 1000+ cookbooks I fall into a rut or I try to do casual meals that are so much preparation that the company is likely to feel uncomfortable about it being a "casual" meal. I am very pleased with the book overall...I have since purchased copies for new brides and brides-to-be. I would suggest this book in tandem with DESPERATION DINNERS. Written by the same authors, it is one of the best 20 minute meals cookbooks out there. All in all, this is a great book for just about anyone to pick up used at a great price. And, for the truly faint at heart when it comes to entertaining, buy it at any reasonable price. You will get your money's worth if you just dine in with company once instead of picking up the check for a decent meal out---what is more, you just may find that you like the flexibility and ease of dining in!Read full review
