I use this mic primarily for recording voices: it handles full throttle blues, chamber chorale, small-ensemble opera and spoken word. Like any mic, it has its own color palette of sound: I find its detail slight warmth really attractive. And there are many mics around -- AKG 214/414 come to mind -- that are a joy to work with. And I have the former. However, to date, there isn't a performer I have worked with who isn't even modestly impressed with how the Bluebird looks. For performers who are not spectrum audio nerds, and who are not well-acquainted with audio capture in performance, I have witnessed active competition to record on the 'beautiful' mic. And I always appreciate mic manufacturers who design and include a protective box, rather than just pouch. (I am also a digital camera op, and would never toss a lens into an unpadded device box for transport). When you're hucking mics to a session, or mushing them in at the last minute, its nice to know there's just one more protective envelope around the only device that ultimately stands between a recording technician and recording medium, a performing artist and a great recording.Read full review

A noise level of 7.5 dB (A-weighted) is what I require, and the ability to adjust the audio is more than I can ask for—I love it. I also purchased the Blue Bottle mic. Man, I'm in seventh heaven.

This microphone is an excellent value. I would (and do) recommend this mic to ANYONE who wishes to record and get an accurate "true" sound. I am partial to this microphone being used on my guitar rig because it's easy to mix like my ears hear my actual guitar tone. In other words, this mic will act as a "sound portal" and if given another name, I'd call it the "Blue Lyre:" an amazingly overlooked and extraordinary bird. Google it.
First of all; this is not a wireless microphone. So if that's what you're looking for, you need to look elsewhere. I was looking into buying one of these at Guitar Center eventually but, I found a killer deal on eBay that I couldn't pass up. It is a good microphone overall. Good for vocals and acoustics. Not so great for miking an amp. If amp miking is what you're looking for, then purchase a Shure SM57. It sounds a lot better and is about a 1/3 of the price. (IMHO) I believe it is worth the money. It does sound great for what I use it for. Keep in mind though that this is just a step above Blue's Spark mic, so don't expect this mic to sound like their other $1000.00+ mics. It sounds great for the money.
The Bluebird is a great step up from my other Chinese LDC mics, having a much smoother, silkier top end. It came with accessories that surprised me at this price point. I have not had a lot of opportunities to put it through its paces just yet, but it has performed very well where I have used it (primarily on both male and female vocals, as well as limited use on acoustic guitar). My use is in a personal / project studio.
