Yes they teamed up with RCA to put this album out. And yes punk rockers are upset. But once we get past the petty "I'm more punk then thou" attitude you will find yourself enjoying a smart album. My friends, Anti-Flag grew up. But don't fear, they did it right. This album is in my opinion the manifest of what they where experimenting with in "Mobilize" and attempting to iron out with "The Terror State". Lyrically "For Blood and Empire" is well thought out in it's message and tone. Unlike "Die for your Government", which had an unrealistic view. Instead you hear about the waste of money on an unpopular war, and the horrific side effects hitting US. and ally troops due to the use of depleted uranium. Composition wise this album still has all of the hard hitting beats that you'd expect form any punk band playing at the local dive bar. When it comes down to it, if your willing to look past your ego. (Assuming your that into punk.) You will enjoy this album. If your a normal person looking for a great political album to add to your collection, you should pick this one up as well.Read full review
The cd is really great. It covers how many aspects of freedom are being/were being kept from the American people during George Bush's presidency and through other counries government. It really makes you think. To me, it is what punk rock really what punk once was: smart, current, important. "It's a gut check of what you believe.. Will you stand up for democracy or a new American century? Endless violence, endless hatred, endless empire tyranny.. Will you make a stand for human dignity or a never ending hate?" -"The Project For A New American Century" - Anti Flag Freedom is still being pushed by the new current administration of President Obama.. so the question still stands: Will you stand up for Democracy? 5/5 Album.
Great band. Cd came in good condition.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
The album is solid and it starts out with a bang. "I'd tell you, but..." is one of Anti-Flags finest songs, instant classic, very well crafted song. Other exceptional tracks are "Sing a Hyme," "State Funeral," and "Depleted Uranium is a War Crime." The album's theme's are very thought provoking and intelligent, and extremely relevant today. AF's best album to date. Ripping good, A.
