By the Blind Boys' standards, this is pretty simple territory for them. The vocals are stellar and the production very good, but this traditional country album drags a bit. High Rd, w/OakRidgeBoys, is singalongable. Hold My Hand has some bluesy guitar. A Burden adds some soulful female vox, an easy listening delight. A Drink is the 2nd rollicking track, as with the 1st. Saw the Light, w/Hank W,Jr is the 3rd of the funner songs. There are at least 3 songs that really drag. Have Thine Way is a waltz with twangy guest vox. If you like Willie Nelson, then you'll like the acoustic ballad, Family Bible. There's also yet another cover of Stand By Me. This CD is not as good as Spirit of the Century, nor even Higher Ground, but is along the thematic vein of the Dixieland Jazz found in Down in New Orleans. The harmonies are tight and fun, but there's little that's striking or original here. If you like Old School country and wondered what it would be like with black gospel vocals, then you should give this a listen.Read full review

This a pretty darned good CD. The Songs are very good. The Blind Boys Harmony is as good as ever & I like most of the six duets on the album. The Duet with Hank williams Jr doing "I saw The Light" is very interesting... I like it! Overall I think this is the Blind Boys best album since "Spirit Of The Century" which is a great one.
