I remember playing Blade of Darkness back in the day, and while its graphics have aged (well, it has been 15 years since the game came out), fighting gameplay is second to none. Blade of Darkness is not a simple button masher, where all your concerns are hitting your enemy as fast as you can. Each weapon (and there are dozens in the game) has its own strengths and weaknesses, its own special moves (usually two of those). Each type of enemy has its own fighting style - aggressive orcs are easy to kill, but cautions knights can be a real pain, as they wait for you to make your move and open yourself for their counterattack. You can play one of four characters, each with unique fighting style and line of weapons - Amazon is best with spears, quarterstaffs, naginatas and can both attack enemies from afar and dodge enemy attacks by performing quick sideway roll. Barbarian is huge, and uses enormous two-handed swords. Knight (my favorite) can use both a shield and a sword, so he can block enemy attacks and counterattack. Overall - fantastic game, my only wish is it gets remade someday.Read full review

Love this game. It is a classic, and for the price I got it at (under $10), I can relive nostalgia.
