I bought this phone for my daughter to use for a few months so she could decide if she really wants to put money into getting a BlackBerry. I figured since she was in college, she may not like it. Actually, this phone helped her make up her mind, that she really does like BlackBerry. While the phone was "older" it still had plenty of life left in it. The keyboard and screen work great. She quickly found her way around and loves having access to more than just text messages. What surprised me about this phone - my daughter liked the more "business" way they organized her life. She felt like her friends "apps" were more for "fun" rather than getting organized. She wanted a phone that would help her get herself better organized and felt like this phone operated more like she "needed." There are some odd ways that Verizon and BlackBerry handle longer text messages. We will have to find out if Verizon and BlackBerry have fixed those issues with the new BlackBerry phones. Even after she switches over we are going to keep this phone handy for when my wife travels abroad. Surprisingly this has been a nice phone.Read full review
I have always wanted the Blackberry World Phone, The major downfall to this phone is I cant recieve Pic. messages from anybody without having to go to the VZPIX website, for a smartphone its not very smart. With having a new baby, alot of the daily pics my wife sends me it's a real hassle to have to go onto the internet to recieve a pic of my little girl. If I had to choose between this phone or a Blackberry curve or any other smartphone that accepts pic messages.. it would definately be the other phone. The other downfall is..I have my email linked to it and everypiece of mail I get including junkmail allerts me. So if you dont mind getting disturbed at night with email updates and junkmail this is the phone for you. I know there has to be a way to turn off those notifications but MY phone did not come with instructions, and this is my first blackberry.Read full review
I purchased this phone when my other BlackBerry died. My contact was 3 weeks away from renewal and the phone company wouldn't budge and let me get a new phone a few weeks early without a major penalty, so I this phone was a great option because it allowed me to keep using my blackberry services and it shipped/arrived quickly. The only thing I didnt like was that there was a significant delay when typing and sending messages...sometimes i'd type a letter or word and it wouldnt appear on the screen for about 10-15seconds. Annoying, but it was better than going without a phone.
very good price, quick delivery, Handsets Verizon BlackBerry Tour review By Jacob Schulman posted Jul 7th 2009 1:30PM Review It's here, folks. The BlackBerry Tour has been unboxed, and now that we've had a few days to mess around with it, we're able to tell you how we truly and deeply feel. There have been countless leaks and unofficial reviews circulating for the past few months, but now that it's finally legit we can give this sexy piece of tech a proper shakedown. It's been roughly described as a CDMA Bold, but does it surpass its GSM counterpart? Read on to find out! Verizon BlackBerry Tour unboxing No matter what you call it -- Niagara, Tour, 9630 -- there's no denying that this is the BlackBerry that CDMA users have been waiting for and lusting over. Ever since the very first whispers and early photos emerged, the main question on everyone's mind has been a frantic "When?!" Now that it's finally set to hit the market next week -- on a variety of carriers no less -- we can really dig deeper and give it a thorough look. Hardware and Design We've got to admit that in our opinion, this is one of the most attractive BlackBerry devices ever made. Whereas the Bold can seem a tad gaudy and overdone -- what with the leather back cover and visually heavy chrome bezel -- the Tour has a more subtle dull chrome bezel and a battery cover than looks sleek and attractive. That said, this is still primarily targeted as a professional device, and it comes along not a moment too soon as a replacement to the aging 8830, which has historically been the global-ready BlackBerry of choice for CDMA customers. I was a bit worried when I first saw the finish on the battery cover, but it really looks great in person. I am a fan of the final finish that Verizon went with: the combination of smooth rubber and textured plastic seems to work and makes it feel virtually perfect in my hand. It adds to the professional feel of the device, and while I personally am not rushing to swap it, I am sure that there will be a whole crop of third-party covers before you know it if the factory one isn't your cup of tea. In terms of the keyboard,I'm surprised to find that RIM has really hit one out of the park again. The keyboard feels spacious and comfortable, despite the fact that it has almost the same exact width as the series. Typing out long e-mails or engaging in riveting BlackBerry Messenger conversations on this keyboard will be painless.Read full review
Blackberry is good. Verizon choosing to only support as a (and I quote) "Smart Phone" is a crock of cow leavings. I love the size, screen, shape, and heft of the BB 8830, and wanted to MP3 capabilities. I don't need mobile web, email, or any of the other crap that the Blackberry is able to do. Unfortunately, Verizon will only ALLOW you to use a Blackberry WITH these overpriced (and for me) useless) features. They never forced me to use these options on my old phone - WHY NOW??? GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!!! Think seriously before buying anything that is deemed a "Smart Phone" You'll pay for it... Or get rid of it... Like this phone's previous owner did... Love the 8830 otherwise. Nice piece of tech...
