By the mid-60s, rock music had taken a serious and dramatic turn for the better, with newer sounds all over radio airwaves. The 1965 volume of "Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits" are a lasting tribute to these changes. Shirley Ellis had one of the year's most fun songs with "The Name Game", remembered for its very catchy wordplay; "A Lover's Concerto" by the Toys has a melody similar to J.S. Bach's "Minuet In G Minor"; Gary Lewis and the Playboys scored with chart-topper "This Diamond Ring"; the Beach Boys continued their popularity with "Help Me, Rhonda"; one of the most successful songs of the 20th century was "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" by the Righteous Brothers; Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs' hit "Wooly Bully" was the no. 1 song of the year, without even reaching number one in its initial chart listing; Len Barry had a top 5 smash with "1-2-3"; "Treat Her Right" from Roy Head and the Traits is a unique mix of R&B/jazz/pop styles all put together; America's favorite duo, Sonny and Cher, hit the top with "I Got You Babe"; Barry McGuire brought a socially concious hit to the forefront with the almost folk-inspired "Eve Of Destruction". With this type of musical variety, people everywhere waited to see where we would go throughout the rest of the decade.Read full review

I remember this music when my sister would play the radio and the records. Some of it was very good too. And I liked it myself too. It beings back good times too.
