This is a great freestanding tent. It doesn't have lots of bells and whistles, and I would say its a bit small for two people, but if weight matters than this is the freestanding tent you are looking for. Many of my friends use the UL1 for long distance hiking, and is probably the most common free standing tent used by thru-hikers on the PCT and CDT. So there ya go...

I purchased this 3 season tent to use while solo backpacking. It's big enough to keep your gear inside if hiking solo but also has a big enough fly to store it outside. Pros - Very lightweight, easy to pitch, enough headroom to sit up, does well in wind, side pockets, door zippers works great. Cons - Expensive, doesn't feel strong, prefer side doors, too small for 2 people. All that said... I would purchase this again. FYI - I added the triangle gear loft but quit using it because it took up headroom and I was always knocking things out of it.
I haven't used it overnight on the trail yet but I practiced setting it up and it is very light, sets up quickly and easily and has a surprising amount of room for a backpacking tent. The rain fly goes on fast too and it's easy to fit everything back in the bag.

The tent is super easy to set up, and get back into the bags it came in. I added one hook to the long pole (it seems like it would have to be tied on instead), but otherwise very pleased with it. Simple, lightweight but substantial enough to do the job.

We got this tent for our upcoming winter trip to Patagonia. We prioritized weight and weatherproofing in our search. Took it up to the Eastern Sierras for a test spin and were so excited at how light, easy to set up, and comfortable it was. It's perfect for our needs, and any con is something we willingly accepted for the price and weight. For anyone who's interested, the cons were: -There's not a lot of vertical space in the tent...definitely not enough to sit up straight for my partner Joe who is 6' tall -The ultralight fabric is noisy
