Most valuable single volume I've read. I'm a 52 year old who started golf about 18 months ago. After a year of shooting around 112 I found a pro I like, took some lessons, and started reading something other than magazines. This book helped me understand some of the pro's points better. The chapter on the grip is the best I've seen. Hogan's chapter on stance and muscle use combined with his thought, " start the back swing with the hands; start the downswing with the left hip probably took 4 or five strokes off my game in two weeks. Read this first, then Penicks, "Little Red Book." If you want pretty pictures, lots of options and maybe and too much information get Golf Magazine's "Golf Illustrated." If you want simple clear graphics that communicate the fundamentals of a solid swing this is the book for you. Last game was an honest 93 with 14 fairways hit, two greens in regulation, four pars and a birdie. Three strokes for a lost ball on one of the bad t shots. Look out 80s here I come. Don't forget to have fun. RobRead full review
Fantastic book on golf swing by Ben Hogan. Has excellent illustrations that make understanding the golf swing very easy. Wish I had this book when I was starting golf. Would have helped my learning curve and eliminated many frustrating mistakes.

A great historical view of Ben Hogan’s game. Many of the pros that played against him consider him to be the best ball striker of all time. The greatest mystery is whether or not Hogan had “the” secret to golf. This book outlines his method and can help any golfer as his basic tips are still relevant today. Not to be overlooked is the artwork of Anthony Ravelli, undoubtedly the best golf illustrator of all time. One of the earlier classic golf instruction books of all time…a must have for not only the insight into Hogan’s game but the historical significance of the book itself, considered by many as the best golf instruction book of all time!

This book has help me to understand what I was trying to do without knowing how. Sometimes we do not know what we don't know. Now I can understand a lot more of what I am supposed to be trying to achieve in my golf swing. I am a long way off, but I now better understand how to get there. It is a great road map. I must put in the work to get there.

So Hogan had a hook and this book shows how he fixed it and what helped him maintain a repeatable swing he could count on. If you hook it then this info will help a lot, or if you’re just starting out in golf this is definitely a good read.
