I use this loupe daily since I'm in the jewelry business, mainly to get a better view of customer's diamonds and watches before taking them in for repair. As a professional salesperson, I also use it during my sales presentation when needed. I have had other loupes in the past and I chose this one because of the brand. It works great and I personally like the smaller size compared to the larger 21mm. I also like the velvet pouch it came with and I use it to store my loupe when I'm not using it. Shipping was on time but the only reason I gave a 4 star is because there was a nick on the black plastic part of the loupe.

The B&L hastings triplett 10x is way smaller than I thought it would be. It is about the size of a U.S dime. If I had known that it was so small I would not have purchased it. I did end up purchasing a Belomo triplett 10x which has great clarity with a larger viewing lens for half the price. Just keeping the B&L as a backup. IMO its not worth the $.

It looks larger in the pictures. The 10x magnification lets you have and inch or so distance between the lens and whatever you are looking at. The clarity is good. The lens is only a half inch diameter so the overall size is compact. I did attach a lanyard to the metal loop on the body to keep it from getting away from me. Not bad for what it cost. There is another brand that has a much larger diameter lens but it is 2.5 times the price.

When I received the Bausch & Lomb, I was initially taken aback with how small it was. By comparison, my GemOro is positively huge with a 21 mm viewing area, whereas the B & L is around 15 mm I believe. But even though these are both nominally 10x Hastings triplets, the magnification of the Bausch & Lomb is significantly greater, which I have to say I find rather strange. I use the loupe for examining meet points when cutting and polishing gemstones. For this purpose, I think the B & L is much better and will be my go-to loupe going forward.

I’ve used one of these since college in the mid-late 70s. Just replaced the one I lost in the Adirondacks. Superb quality. I like the 14x for my mineralogical usage.
