I have no way of knowing for sure this is OEM but what I can say is it looks every bit so except the number which I assume is serial number doesn't match what the system reports. the system information reports manufacturer is SMP which is the same as the one that came with the MBP originally. It has 2 cycles when installed probably due to testing or whatnot, and condition is Normal. According to my research the MBP is supposed to last 7 hours on a full charge. This battery depletes 50% in a span of ~3:20 so I think it's up to spec. I did some web browsing with Safari and Chrome and watches some YouTube video. I have both a SSD and a 720rpm HDD installed in the place of the Superdrive. This battery is for older MBP models, in my case mid 2012 15" non retina. So I suspect you can't really buy it from Apple anyway.Read full review

Originally seemed to work well. But a couple months later and less than 20 cycles, it was totally dead and non-functional. I highly doubt this is a "genuine" Apple battery. I figured it wasn't before I ordered but based on the plastic moldings, connector, printing, etc. it is a copy of a real Apple battery.

This is identified by the System Profiler as SMP and by Coconut Battery as Simplo. It calibrated at 7200 mAh and works perfectly. The serial number on the case doesn’t match the one reported by the System Profiler, but I can’t argue with the performance. Behaves like OEM since SMP is one of Apple’s battery suppliers. No complaints. Would buy again.

My original battery had swollen inside my case and I thought that it had caused significant damage. I removed the battery and repaired the case and when I had to replace the battery I figured that a generic battery would be better than getting a used on because it was just as old as the one that I was replacing. When I installed the battery my MacBook Pro ran extremely hot and would shut down after about 10-15 minutes. I never once associated this problem with the battery; I was looking at replacement motherboards, assuming that the damage was caused by the original swollen battery. I was going to salvage the laptop then all of the sudden the generic battery stopped charging and I bought this one, I had to do the SMC reset to get it to charge but afterwards all of the problems that I had been having went away - the laptop runs cool, no shutdowns, problem solved. About the battery. My battery has 90% life and after one charge I used the laptop for five hours before I charged it again. As far as I am concerned it is a new battery. Kudos to doubledexmacbooks who is the seller. Read full review

My husband's MacBook Pro battery bit the dust so we needed a replacement. Initially we purchased a generic replacement battery that was said to be compatible...BIG MISTAKE. Huge performance issues. It charged fine but the system was sluggish and very laggy. I read on several blogs that other consumers experienced the same issues when using generic replacement batteries. After installing this Apple OEM Original Genuine battery, all issues were resolved. His Mac is now performing like new! My advice...always replace/repair with original Apple parts. You may pay a little more but it is so worth it.
