Okay. I know. Most of us who are now parents of toddler to preschool age kids remember the Saturday Night Live skit with Barney playing basketball with Charles Barkley. Barney was the dinosaur whose hokey laugh and song was the butt of many jokes. But now several years have past, and you have a child or two who you would like to occasionally occupy with quality television entertainment. If so, then this is the video for you! While the show on PBS has gotten much sleaker, and the acting has definitely improved, my kids seem to prefer these earlier shows to the more sophisticated ones being produced today. This episode, in which the children plan a birthday party for Barney, teaches kids the age old lesson that it's not the gift but the thought that counts. Your kids will love singing and dancing along with Barney and his friends. I like that it is only 30 minutes long because I can put it in to occupy my youngest while I get the older 2 ready for school, and yet it's short enough to run beginning to end before we need to get out the door. Of course, the big con is that the acting is pretty bad. Your kids won't care, though. Therefore, I have to give it an excellent rating. Grab your copy before they are all worn out. I don't believe this title is being produced anymore in VHS or DVD.Read full review
