To me, this book is arranged like a "history" from the first Barbie mold to the evolving of her fashions to "keep up" with the times. It is not a book for locating what pieces came along with an outfit, or what the value is of an item or doll. It is a book which introduces you to each member of the Barbie family & friends...from 1959 to almost the end of the 90's. A time-line is included, with the year of the issue of each doll, including Ken, Midge, Skipper and their friends & families. This history-like book is arranged in categories of the different "eras", including the earliest Vintage clothing to the Mod Era to the Dolls of The World series and beyond. Barbie in Pop Culture, Little Theatre, Bob Mackie creations and even comparing her many exciting fashions to famous models, movie stars and celebrities, and showing how their fashions inspired the designers of Barbie's vast collection of clothing. A great fold-out section displays a nice selection of Barbie's fashions including Barbie Millicent Roberts, Classique and Bob Mackie. I recommend this book for any one who is interested in the "evolving" of Barbie, her popularity, the many careers she has had, and more. The photographs are professionally presented in this hard-cover book, and after reading every page within...you will know why Barbie is still the most popular doll ever created!Read full review
I love this Barbie book. So much that I wanted to replace it after my son's dog ate the cover of the one I already had. So happy that I was able to get it a good price. It was packaged carefully keeping it from any kind of damage that could have happened.
