I haven't seen the full movie yet, and I'm sure it's campy and ridiculous because the title gives that away! Regardless, I will enjoy this because Takeshi Kaneshiro is in this film, and in having watched most of his movies and TV series to-date, I've truly come to recognize and appreciate his earnestness in all the roles that he has played. His acting chops truly makes him much more than a beautiful face to look at that he's become one of my favorite actors in general, and not just a favorite Asian actor. Based on the previous reviewer and the info he provided about the audio playing in both Mandarin and Cantonese at the same time, I still decided to buy this DVD because I wanted to see the movie. I was ready to do as suggested and mute the audio and just read the subtitles as I watched. Thankfully, I don't have to do that anymore. There is a work-around to get the audio to play in either Mandarin or Cantonese. What you have to do is pull out one of the speaker jacks from behind the TV (not sure if this is the correct lingo), but you have to remove either the left speaker or right speaker, and voila, it will play in just one language depending on which side you remove. Apparently, this is a thing they used to do with VCDs which I never knew until last night. I tested it, and it worked.Read full review

As a big Takeshi Kaneshiro fan and also a fan of Asian films in general, this has its good points and its bad points. It is entertaining but some of the action gets a little monotonous. The biggest problem is the voices are all dubbed with other people's voices than the actors, which can be a little disconcerting, and in typical fashion of low budget Asian films they have both the Mandarin tracks and Cantonese tracks running at the same time, albeit with distinctive voices, but it's still a jumble of spoken lines. It's almost better to mute it and just read the subtitles.

The movie itself, is fine. Hung, Biao, and Kaneshiro play their characters perfectly. The DVD is a transfer from a VCD source, the video quality is disappointing and not up to DVD standards, and it plays both Cantonese and Mandarin soundtracks simultaneously. English and Mandarin Subs are non-removable, but well translared. This flick is a Hong Kong classic that hopefully will someday receive a proper DVD BD reprint.
