I love these little Kodak Playfull ZE-1s. So very compact, yet everything about them screams quality. I use these at my campsite to catch nature video (especially bird feeder action) and take super nice photos of wildflowers, woodland plants and more. I love that they can accept up to a 32G SD card. High quality video is very do-able. I have been extremely fortunate to find brand new ones on eBay for a fraction of the retail they used to sell for. Kodak is gone now, but these cameras rock and I could not be happier.

I'm an older woman. I love Kodak and although this seems to have been designed for teens and young adults, I'm going to LOVE using this brand new ZE1. As a preface, I own and regularly use a few (non-Kodak) Flips, but regret that they zoom only 2X. This ZE1 is comfortably TINY, zooms 4X, has great editing features and has good sound quality for my purposes, which is handy spontaneous video recording of friends and family. It's a throw-in-your-pocket kind of camcorder, but of course you should cover it with at least a soft fabric bag to protect it. Like the Flip, this Kodak ZE1 has a built-in USB plug, which should be gently opened up (the plug's housing is plastic) and carefully attached to an extension USB cord. I am particularly happy with the extremely easy prompts for set-up; scrolling and setting was truly effortless. If you use a 32GB (regular) SD card (Kodak recommends Class 4 or better) you can get up to 10 hours recording, which is astonishing. I have an 8GB in it right now and can get more than 2 hours on the regular video setting (720/30fps.) Will the battery go that long without a recharge? Doubtful, but we'll find out. CHARGING THE CAMERA: As with all the newer Kodak cameras, the USB cord you get for uploading to your computer and charging your internal battery via the USB port also has an AC adapter. So if you are away from your desktop, still recording but running out of charge, you can still AC charge it elsewhere. If you do your picture/video editing and camera charging on your laptop you won't have these complications. I'm sure there's also a car charger available for it. I have other Kodaks (I have a large family and a lot of outdoor interests, and I record EVERYTHING) so I bought a Kodak Powerpack KP1850 from the Kodak website (about $25 total, which arrived amazingly fast and can charge two devices simultaneously) to recharge all my newer cameras when I won't be returning to electricity or to my computer right away; this solves the problem. When I get it all home, I recharge both the power pack and the camera, and upload the videos and pics, and edit later. Frequent charging is recommended; the camera has protections which prevent overcharge. The white light blinks when it's charging and stays solid when it's finished. The ZE1 has all the new internet share features which come with all the new Kodaks, which I won't be using but other people may enjoy. Your pics/videos can be uploaded directly to your facebook, youtube etc. When you install, the Share Button app walks you through all that when you want to program your preferences. And of course you can make changes to these preferences down the road. You can do some of your picture and video editing right on the camera, which is great. (You can trim off the front and back ends of videos, for example, and still save the original if you wish.) The ArcSoft editing program (which installs when you plug the camera in to the computer) seems pleasantly uncomplicated and also has some cool features which I'll be interested in trying out. I personally think the retail price is very fair, although I've been successful getting these on ebay at tremendous savings. The ONLY complaint I have so far is that the plastic side compartments you have to open to insert the card, battery and cord require something sharp. I bite my nails, so I keep a safety pin on the wrist strap. Problem solved.Read full review
This is a great cam corder. Size, quick use, easy to understand and overall utility are great. It looks like a phone so it is very unobtrusive--most people are not aware you are filming them. You get great natural shots! I find it doesn't interfere with the scene because its not noticed. The screen is so tiny that you may need to pay attention to keep it from wandering off scene but this makes it so much better that most subjects think you are taking stills. I love it! Play-Full is the best way to describe this item. I now have 2 of them and recommend them to others before they disappear.
Really great little and easy to use video camera and still pictures. Would recommend to anyone. Great Value.
