I love this series! They should call it "crack" instead of "weeds" because it is so addictive! The plotlines are intriguing and gripping, you can't watch just one episode at a time. The special features are almost as good as the series iteslf, the commentaries are interesting and hilarious. If you have a good sense of humor and think it's funny to joke around about drugs, sex, and violence then this series is DEFINETLY for you! It's not something I would watch with my mother, but I definelty love it. I've watched my season dvds numerous times...It never gets old!
Whereas season 1 of "Weeds" offered a good deal of exposition — establishing Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker), her "job" and her problems — season 2 took the show to new heights, including a jaw-dropping cliffhanger that have left fans rabid for more. The season's last few episodes, especially, are fantastic as Nancy's life and family spin wildly out of control. Indeed, Nancy Botwin may be the world's first pot-dealing tragic hero. Perhaps the show's only downfall are the dopey covers of "Little Boxes" that mark the beginning of each episode. The original song, written by Malvina Reynolds in 1962, is an fantastic opener; the covers that were commissioned by popular bands somehow detract from the tune's overall charm. Thanks for reading. had always wanted to watch WEEDS,BUT NEVER HAD SHOWTIME. A friend recomed that i watch it, so i took their word for it. So i saw that these items were available on bluray for an affordable price, and i jumped at the opportunity to own them. Now in the 3rd season, I am very pleased with my purchase. The show is categorized as a dramedy, and it delivers exactly that. The drama is intense, and the comedy is very witty and sarcastically funny. The show is centered around a pot dealing Widow, and her family. It goes through her triumphs, as well as her trials and tribulations. Mary louise Parker, delivers in each episode as she did For "angels in america" the HBO mini-series in which she won an emmy. I highly(no pun inteded) recommend this show.
This comedy drama has been a pure dose of laughter and emotion. The characters are as unique as you could hope for and the variety of their interactions is priceless. A long-time-friend & I have devoured both seasons 1 & 2, and have 3 & 4 on the way! I would be remiss if I did not bring your attention to season 2, episode 2, where, after a plumber has to explain to Nancy why her adolescent son has been flushing his socks, she orders Silas to teach him about these changes his body is experiencing, to put it delicately........when Silace sits him down in the kitchen and takes off on a mind numbing tutorial which included a peeled banana, we both fell off our chairs!
Once you start watching Weeds, it's hard to stop. I had never watched it on television so it was a totally new experience for me. I would prefer less use of the profanity, but considering the content of the show, the profanity is probably necessary. It is fun to live vicariously through these television characters who have no limits to what they get into. I don't want my children watching it, but if you're mature enough to understand that it's fiction, you will enjoy it.
