If you want to quickly and easily turn old slides or film into digital pictures without spending a lot of money, this is a great product. It is very easy to use, probably as fast as possible for this kind of work, and a reasonable price. I would have given it four stars, but the colors on the photos are not always super accurate. If the photo is bright or has a lot of white it can get a little washed out. This isn't terrible, and if your goal is to preserve memories it shouldn't be a problem, but if you wanted to digitalize some high quality images of white flowers in sunlight then you will probably be disappointed. In my opinion this gives probably about the best photo quality you will find for under $100, and for ease of use and speed I doubt there is anything better.

Very easy to use, BUT, the images are not high resolution and certainly don't look like they are 14 MP resolution, it's look more like 3-4 mega pixel resolution maximum. Also, the colors are not good (the DEL light inside the machine isn't good to begin with and you can take 2-3 takes from the same slide and you will never get the same colors each time) and it's a very long process to edit each pictures in photoshop. I use it only for my old slides and if your slides are made on Kodak Kodachrome it will not work at all, I wasn't able to scan those slides (they are different, if you look closely on of these slide, they are textured, it's like they have some amount of ink on them).I was able to scan all the normal Kodak slides (if you look at those slides, they are not textured and they look like pictures only). The program on the CD is not good, it's a pain in the ass to use it and photoshop is much better especially to remove the black spots and dust on the images. Don't except professionnal results, I did try to scan some old 35mm negatives and the results was awful. Almost impossible to edit each pictures in photoshop. The colors aren't accurate and the images look weird.Read full review

This scanner is small and lightweight and very easy to set-up. Instructions on its use could be better, but it was easy to figure out. I bought it to scan a handful of old slides and 35mm negatives. Buying the scanner was less expensive, quicker, and easier than paying someone else to do the work for me. Although it creates 14MB files, output quality may not be sufficient for someone who is seriously critical about their images. As a hobbyist, it was fine for converting my old media to jpeg files. When I was done creating my jpegs, I donated the unit to my local library.

I gave it 4 stars because it does come as a complete kit, it does function, and it is WAY STUPID CHEAP... This product is NOT designed to be, nor priced as, professional level equipment. Do not expect professional level results. BUT it is 14MP so it will produce a large decent quality image, just not a super high quality image. If your a photographer or photo enthusiast and you want professional level, keep on shopping... And expect to pay way way way more than what this item costs. Like I said for $50 this is a GREAT product. BUT don't expect superior quality. When I use it, I make sure the negatives are in proper condition (clean) and I make sure to swab off the lens on the device as well (comes with a stick that fits in there). So check this out, scan your image in AND THANK GOD FOR PHOTOSHOP because I take a crappy quality scan and using the Adobe Camera RAW feature all the sudden POOF you can modify junky scan into really nice digital photo's. I simply cannot give this product a 5-star rating, it would be very deceiving. BUT if I could give it 5-stars in any one area it would be "VALUE" - hope this helps.Read full review

This is an inexpensive scanner of slides and negatives. I have not used it for negatives but it works great for slides. The controls are realatively intuitive and once learned, are easy to use. Manipulating the picture (rotate/mirror) is quick and easy - faster than doing so on the computer later. After loading the tray with 4 slides, I was able to scan and store them in about 15 to 20 seconds each. Being able to save the images on an SD card was the reason for selecting this particular unit as the work can be done anywhere without having to take the computer with me and I do not have to worry about software compatibility. No software provided as none is required - just upload to your computer and process with any other software. Other reviews indicate that color rendering might be the greatest and that post scan adjustments might be required, that has not be a concern for me - quality seems to be good. BUT, my slides are up to 60 years old and have not been looked at for at least 35 years - if I do not scan them, they will never be looked at again and the family history will be lost. Thus, color rendering is of little concern. If true rendering is that important, there are probably better units available but at significantly higher price. For the price and my purpose, this is a very good value.Read full review
