For a few years in the 90's boss adapted a few of there pedals to incorperate delay as well as their main function and one of the results was the rv-3. i was too young to appriciate this when it was released but this is my go to reverb and delay atm. i use a dd-6 on a bass pedal board but the flexibity of the rv-3 makes its a workhorse for earie echos, trails and huge purcussive sounds. Good points: 1. the delays and reverbs trails off when you turn it off. 2. its two effects in one. therefore less pedal board space needed. 3. has a mix (wet/dry) control rather than a level. 4. can turn on/off reverb and delay at the same time. 5. stereo out 6. Really long delay options. 7. Huuuuuuge reverb sounds and 4 different types. Bad points: 1. slight sound cut off when engaging/disengaging. just noticable so you have to time your presses right. 2. no longer made and therefore hard to get hold of. 3. a bit on the pricy side but then again all delay pedals are. 4. only mono input, but thats not a problem for me. 5. Reverb sound a bit digital and sterile at times but you can roll a bit of the tone off with the tone control. Overall a really good pedal and if you can find one i would recommend trying one as it isnt like any of the stand alone boss pedals.Read full review
This pedal definitely surpases the RV-5. Has that classic BOSS delay and reverb sound that many musicians use in their rigs. With Delay, Delay+Reverb, & Reverb settings, you can create a unique ambiant tone that adds alot of depth to your sound. It does take a little bit of fiddling especialy when using the Delay+Reverb setting to find the ballance you need. Overall a great unit, I have no idea why BOSS discontinued it!
To be honest the only reason I purchased this was for the RV-3. The other 2 pedals are ok. Don't really like the boss compressor but the NS-2 is handy, though if you use an actual isolated power unit that does the same thing.

They quit making this pedal in 2002 but are still in demand. It's because it has very good digital reverb and delay sounds that covers most of what most people need for general urposes. Also the Combined reverb and delay setting are very useful. It's what I would call guess I can say they are a good value. The prices are a little high truthfully but the reason is they are still in demand. I was able to get this one at a little lower price than the norm, so I did get what I would call a good deal. After 15 years of being out of production and still being in demand speaks highly of the RV3.

I didn't need the big "Cathedral" type of reverb pedal and was researching a single stomp box. This one had great reviews. And with reason! Saw a YouTube video with the top ten reverbs. This was the only inexpensive, simple to use stomp box in the category. Highly recommend it!
