I bought this anime movie to go along with the anime TV series that I have. Now I have the entire collection, I believe. Between this movie and the TV series. The disc and case is n very good shape. It played straight through very good. Showed up within estimated time of arrival. Only thing left to get now, is real life anime turned real movie. Then I will have it all.

Highly recommended... Positives: it has well-planned and executed action scenes, smooth animation and CG effects, the Music is very fitting, the sound quality is very good, great voice actors, although short, the story comes across smoothly and is put together very well (you don't feel like it is too compressed), Saya's character comes across very well, and I loved the mixing of language: people who spoke English spoke English people who spoke Japaneses spoke Japaneses and those who were bilingual... well you get the point(very good subtitles as well). Negatives: short for a full-length film at only an hour and a half, many of the main players are never fully described, Saya's reason for what she is doing is never really talked about or shown, And well you're looking at a movie called Blood, of course it will be very violent, and large amounts of gore will be in it. A short bit of nudity when a “suicide” scene is looked over. NOT a movie for kids or anyone who can't handle blood in large amounts... mature audiences only... older teens and adults. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star and I am only giving a 4 star is because MY preference in movies, I tend to not have the very violent type as my favorites... but for what genre it is a *5-STAR* is probably more appropriate.Read full review
Case was little more beat up than I expected but the disc is in fantastic shape and it played perfectly! Blood is a very unique and cool anime movie that is worth your time! Note that they original was recorded in english and sometimes its a little wonky but still very engaging.

"Blood: The Last Vampire" is the movie that inspired the 50-episode anime series "Blood+". I was a fan of the anime series first and decided to check out the movie soon after I saw the anime. Aside from the main character of Saya, the Japanese school girl and David (her agent?), I didn't recognize a name from anime series, but the main story is much the same. There are shape-shifting blood suckers called chiropterans running among the population and Saya is the one who is capable of killing the creatures. The animation is quite beautifully done in this movie, and when it came out, it was cutting edge. Some of the elements on screen look very real and the story is quite fascinating. However, the movie is terribly short at only 48 minutes, by most anyone's standard (short for even Disney's kiddie movies), and the viewers are left with lots of unanswered questions and generally wanting more. I was disappointed by the shortness of it, and I remain a loyal fan of the anime series that was inspired by this movie. (Although the original movie's Saya was cooler, I thought.)Read full review
This film spawned a television series and a live action franchise...And there is no substitute for the original. This is easily one of the best anime films of its time and perhaps more. The animation surprisingly still holds up immensely well, being one of the first true digital anime films. The story is short and for those who like abundant exposition and lots of backstory may not find this as entertaining...as the writers like many Japanese stories focus solely on the story and events at hand at the expense of explaining everything that has occurred up to this point. Much of that is developed in the later series and film but are not required for viewing. The story moves at fast pace once things get going very quickly and you are more apt to want much more rather than have any genuine critique of the product itself. This is about as close to required viewing for any anime fan as it gets. The backdrop of the Vietnam conflict on a military base is superb and offers some unique insight into the tone of the nations involved at the time. The film's protagonist is a good example of how to develop a strong formidable, and stoic character, while making them interesting and still plausibly vulnerable. This is a great, great movie.Read full review
