bought my first black berry 8700c last year after July 4th, 2009. The Phone came to me destroyed (AS IS) and I had to replace the housing, lcd and keyboard and fix a java run time error with it. Since then it has been a excellent phone even on prepaid, and blasted ATT will not allow internet service. There is a work around for that problem, by yourself a 4.99 or 9.99 data package, download opera mini 4.2 and up application. Install on your black berry, and use it sparingly only to check your email. Just don't open your mouth to ATT and tell them you found a work around otherwise they'll shut down one 4 mini internet ports. The memory on this phone and the new ATT black berry 8700c is great, it could use an expansion slot, but still works great if you keep your mp3's and images small enough to fit on the phone. The Phone will hold about 8MB worth of media content once it's packed it will refuse anything else until you delete your stuff or some of the preloaded stuff via through roxio media manager. If you know how to fix up phones like me, and find a black berry 8700c going for about 24.00- 37.00 with a buy it now, get it. It will be worth while in the end....Read full review
I never had a smartphone before and truthfully was a little afraid of all the bells and whistles. I read many reviews and felt for the money I could start with this one and see if I like it. I got this one compatible with AT&T and you have to make sure the phone is one that will work on your network. Most of it is intuitive and I love being able to get all my emails to it from different email accounts. The display is straight forward and the real keyboard is wonderful as is the large screen. I love all the technology at the low price (got it for $36 US) and the phone is not ancient by tech standards either. You can easily get all documentation online for it. What I don't like is I can't see the internet the way you can in a normal browser, here it is slow and just text for the most part. But it is still the internet! However you can download mini-opera browser IF the phone you bought did not have an IT restriction on it which unfortunately mine does. There may be a work around but it seems complicated. All in all I LOVE IT! And the battery seems to last a good while as well. Also the inputs and chargers are interchangeable with Motorola Razr which I had before so that was handy too. It doesn't have WIFI or a camera but I don't care about either for my purposes since I still get my email and can get on the net. I give it two thumbs up!!Read full review
I needed to replace a broken Tilt and preferred a model with hard keys on the front of the phone. I can upgrade in a few months and consider another model then. The Blackberry has met or exceeded every expectation I had of it especially in the batter life department. I can go two days without a charge because it uses electricity very efficiently. Toward the end of a battery cycle, it shuts down the call-out feature but still allows you to get incoming SMS and email messages. It fits in my front pocket fine thus keeping me from giving away my phone model when I travel or jog. It does lack wifi or camera features but I rarely used those features on the Tilt. When I did use the wifi feature on the Tilt it burned up battery life like there was no tomorrow. It would run 3 hours on wifi then burn down. When I finally do upgrade I plan to keep the Blackberry for a backup or give it to my mom to use.Read full review
forwards emails to your phone for instant notification and viewing. requires at&t smartphone package (apprx $30/month) for at&t version. keys are kind of small but individually backlit and letters are lit. screen is bright and has dimmer. track wheel works nice. pretty good little phone. not sure if it has a browser (i dont have the data plan for it anyway so i cant see what it can fully do. quickly scroll thru contacts with the track wheel (a plus if you have alot). once you get used to it youll like it. not sure if its the phone for me (without a browser) as i have a solstice all touch screen (nice to have buttons & a keypad tho), but thats completely dependent on whos using it. overall 8 out of 10 (no browser = -1, sliding trackwheel not as good as multidirectional ball -1)
it's my first blackberry, it's works very well, and the features are great... the use of trackwheel might not as convenient as track ball, but its have it's own fun.. you can browse the page very quick.. the QWERTY keyboard makes taxting so fast, and it's layout just perfect... love it.. it will be even more nicer if it come with a camera, and too bad you can use it on your laptop to connect to internet...
