This is actually the second PL-200 I've purchased to round out my home theater system. All of the other speakers in this 9.2 configuration are high end Klipsch. The only place I "skimped" is on the subwoofers. My preamp is a Marantz AV-8801, a beast of a preamp with Sony TA-55ES's bridged in mono driving the speakers. I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality and ability of this subwoofer to not only hit all the low notes but do it with authority. Movies with heavy action scenes is where this sub shines the brightest. Explosions sound and feel real. The earthquake effects in San Andreas were virtually shaking my house. Combining two of these subs in one system gives you limitless low end. I am very happy with the purchase especially since I have a little over $500 invested in 2 SUBS, NOT ONE, BUT TWO subs for that price. Ok, so enough with the praise. Do I have any criticisms? Yes, I do but they are mild. Musically, these may not be the ideal sub. The bass, which some can be attributed to them being a tuned port configuration, can be a bit muddy and/or booming in that 100 HZ area. Yes, you can eliminate a lot of that by turning the crossover down to 80 HZ or less but you also lose a lot of the punch that is desirable to hear, especially if you have ever had a tweaked car audio system that really pounds. More than anything they add a little additional bottom end to my Klipsch RP-280F's but I almost prefer to listen to music, esp. hard rock in stereo using just my two main speakers. I wrestle with considering a couple very pricey acoustic suspension type subs just for this reason but with the main speakers I have, I can live with what I have. Don't get me wrong, for home theater, these subs are fantastic, way more sub than what the price would indicate. The only other thing I noticed is how relatively light they are compared to other subs. I am tempted to disassemble one to peer inside the cabinet and see what's going on in there but they perform so well that they defy their lighter weight. For most, I think this sub will more than satisfy.Read full review

These subwoofer sound good, but the top and bottom of the cabinets are plastic that scratches real easy. For what you pay for these BIC Acoustech subwoofer they should be wood veneer at less something that will not get damaged easy and show. You have to be real careful with them. I did not return the subwoofer I purchased because by the time I send them back paying for the return shipping and buying something else it would of cost me more. So I was stuck with a subwoofer which the plastic was not described it said veneer.

Let me start by saying that I am somewhat of an audiophile. I have an SVS pb 2000 sub in my main system. This sub was purchased for a secondary system in my front room. I have it paired to a dennon avrx 2400 with some bowers and Wilkins 600 s 2 and and an Bowers and wilkins CC s2 for my center. I replaced a klipsch rpw10 with this bic sub woofer because I wanted a lower frequency response than the klipsch and I felt that the klipsch was a bit boomy. This sub digs way deeper in frequency response than the klipsch did. The bass is beautiful nice and tight and accurate with deep notes that can be felt and heard unlike the klipsch. I did a ton of research before I bought this sub becuse I wanted svs sound without the price tag and boy did this this sub deliver. If you are thinking about this sub stop thiking and buy it. I am usually an abt shopper and all of my audio purchases are from there or better smaller audio stores, I have a very nice set up for my main system and and i am used to really good clean accurate sound. I feel that there is no better sub on the market in this price rage period. If I had to purchase this sub again for $500.00 I would buy again with no hesitation . Simply put I am.blown away at what I got for the purchase price $250.00 . The box is well constructed and it looks as good as it sounds. Make sure you measure becuse this sub is big but totally worth the sacrifice of space. Wife also thinks is beautiful and sounds great as well.Good job bic !!! I will review again in 12 months to see how it has held up.Read full review

Yeah these are a really nice piece. I bought one and it sounds good but I haven't compared it to other far more expensive powered subs but the pl 200 is a quality peice. I had one for about a year and was always playing with the volume in the sub frequency to get that rich theater sound that you want and it does the job well. But now I have two and it's where it's at. they sound great I don't have to mess with anything anymore, its there every time. they don't over Rumble and are very clear and sounds exactly the way should did they look great

I digitally remaster music including the pipe organ works of the legendary E. Power Biggs (my website is www.cambt3.musicstack.com). I have B & W 804 Matrix speakers but I need a sub for the bottom octave (below about 40 Hz). I have previously owned Kenwood, Yamaha & Polk subwoofers but when the crossover on my Polk failed, I did some investigation looking for the best possible price/ performance ratio. I listened to ML, SVS, Velodyne and some others. I chose this one and after setting up and fine tuning the response, I am STILL amazed at what I hear/feel from this unit. It makes everything else I've ever owned/evaluated sound weak and the PL-200 gives me a true picture of my work. If you have enough room for this unit, buy it without hesitation.
