I was very pleased with the coverage and photographs of a good variety of Western and Cowboy Belt Buckles. The Native American made and Frank Patania (described in the book as "Fran" Patania) examples were often mis-identified or more typically, the maker was not identified. There were Zuni Buckles pictured that were made by famous artists that just about anyone involved in Native American Jewelry would recognize immediately...I suspect the authors included the Native Buckles as almost an afterthought and did not bother to even ask anyone with knowledge on the matter. The same can be said about the "Turquoise" comments. Don't expect anything but great pictures in this category either... It is a pretty casual book with a strong marketing "Spin". For instance there is advice about the rarity of buckle types that are not at all rare. Telling you to buy one when you can find one seems to be advice that comes from a retailer with buckles to sell. The photography is well done! I only paid about $10 for my copy, and I do not regret buying it. If your expectations are limited to the coverage of Western Buckles and Not Native Buckles or Turquoise, I believe you will be pleased. Read full review
